Jonathan Robison holds a doctorate in health
education/exercise physiology and a master of science in human nutrition
from Michigan State
University where he is
assistant professor. He has authored numerous articles on a variety of
health-related topics and is a frequent presenter at national and
international conferences.
Dr. Robison specializes in health promotion and human behavior, with a
particular interest in why people do what they do and don’t do what they
don’t do. He has served as co-editor of the journal - Health At
Every Size - and has been helping people with weight and eating-related
concerns for more than 20 years.
Dr. Robison’s presentations and workshops promote shifting health
promotion away from its traditional, biomedical, control-oriented focus.
His new book:
The Spirit & Science of Holistic Health
More than broccoli, jogging and bottled water
More than yoga, herbs and meditation
presents a radically new direction for health education and promotion
and is meant as a textbook for students and a guidebook for practitioners
who wish to incorporate holistic principles and approaches into their work.
The book also provides the guiding principles for the award-winning
KAILO employee Holistic Health Promotion Program created by Kelly Putnam at
Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa. From a grant provided by Health Canada,
the KAILO program has now been replicated in 2 hospitals near Toronto and
is presently being initiated at two others.
Aside from his work, Dr. Robison's passions include his wife Jerilyn,
music, humor and arranging sports schedules for his 13-year-old son, Joshua.
